Week 19, May 8-14, 2023. Cybersecurity Weekly Updates.

This week in the world of cybersecurity:

MSI suffered a significant data breach, resulting in their private code signing keys being leaked on the dark web. Such breaches underline the risks to even established entities, especially when Western Digital also confirmed the theft of customer data from a breach that took place in March. The cyber threats don’t limit themselves to corporations; nations are under fire too. CERT-UA released a warning about SmokeLoader and RoarBAT malware attacks, specifically targeting Ukraine. In an effort to safeguard digital spaces, U.S. authorities stepped in, seizing 13 domains known for providing criminal DDoS-for-Hire services. Lastly, the mastermind behind the major Twitter 2020 hack faced serious consequences, pleading guilty and potentially staring down a sentence of up to 70 years in prison.
