Week 24, June 13-19, 2022. Cybersecurity Weekly Updates.

This week in the world of cybersecurity:

Chinese hackers have been at the forefront, targeting unsuspecting users by distributing backdoored Web3 wallets for both iOS and Android platforms. The same group, known as ‘Gallium’, has intensified their cyberespionage activities, now employing the new PingPull malware. In the business telecommunication sector, a disconcerting discovery was made as researchers exposed a rooting backdoor present in Mitel IP phones, specifically designed for businesses. Email security, a cornerstone of digital communication, has also been jeopardized with a new Zimbra email vulnerability that could potentially enable attackers to steal login credentials. Lastly, emphasizing the ever-present and evolving threat to hardware, a novel Hertzbleed side channel attack has been detected, impacting all modern AMD and Intel CPUs.
